Mark attended Syracuse University, then Suffolk University Law School. He practiced trial law for approximately twenty-three years. His areas of practice included criminal defense, personal injury, workers' compensation, domestic relations, and commercial litigation.
He traded the practice of law for professional photography, which he enjoyed for approximately twelve years.
The galleries in this website show examples of the kind of photography Mark enjoyed.
He was diagnosed with ALS in February, 2008. Presently, he is unable to move his legs, feet, arms, hands, or fingers , but he is able to move his head and he can still speak and swallow. He uses a bipap machine 18 hours a day to help with respiration. He is able to use a computer via eye-gaze technology. The mouse pointer moves where he looks, and the mouse clicks when he blinks. This is a slow process, but it works.
